Stitch from Stash - May

Well, I didn't spend as much as last month, so that is an improvement.

My amount spent this month was:  $145.00.  I outlined part of my spend in this post.  And I bid on a piece on ebay which hasn't arrived but has been paid for.  I'll post a picture of that once I receive it.  Even though I spent almost half my allotment in the past month, I am still in the game.  Of course, I will have to be very, very careful in the coming months to stay in the game.

In the past month I finished Strawberry House by Scarlett House which I showed here.

I worked on these pieces:

Fun Every Day - Sunday by Sam Sarah Designs

Summer at Hollyberry Farm by Stacy Nash Primitives

Spring Gardner Sewing Roll by Stacy Nash Primitives
I have been working in my stitching room, sorting and cleaning and organizing.  I have bought two pieces of furniture for that room which I'll show in another post.  I am still doing some tweaking in there.

Have a great month.

All Kitted Up

The morning after my road trip for one I kitted up these projects.  I wanted to get this done before I forgot what I had intended to do with all that floss I purchased.

I didn't have the fabric listed but tea-dyed a piece I had instead.  I think it looks good with the recommended floss.
Count Twice by Plum Street Samplers with fabric from my stash and just a couple of DMC colors.
Beggar's 4th with fabric from my stash.

I think I was in the mood to do some stitching for spring.  I love the chicks that Brenda Gervais put in two of these pieces.

Road Trip for One

Weekend before last I headed out for Just Cross Stitch in Lederach, PA.  I had emailed Carolyn and asked her to hold one of these for me.  I've been wanting one of these since I first saw them online. I can see that I need to do some serious trimming on that fern.  It looks good from the top.  I rarely see it from that angle.

Before I left I made a list of floss I needed to kit up a few projects.  This is how much floss I wound up with:

And I picked up these charts:

And this kit:

Pretty good haul for a trip to pick up a mug and a little bit of floss.

I really don't want to think about what this did to my Stitch from Stash budget.

Mail Call - Again

A couple of days after Mother's Day arrived I found this in my mailbox.

Isn't she pretty?  I am tempted to start this next.

My Buddy, Franklin

I don't think I've shared a picture of my son's dog, Franklin.

Isn't he cute?  Kind of big (like 70 pounds), but cute.

I have to say that I've never considered myself a 'dog person', no offense to those of you who are.  Now, this guy has changed my mind.

A couple of weekends ago he accompanied me on my errands.  He sat in the backseat most of the time.  And was pretty good.  No barking or jumping around.  I could hear that he had something and was chewing on it.  I found out that he had figured out how to undo the velcro that holds my umbrella closed and was licking the umbrella.  I stopped the car, folded the umbrella back up, and stuck it in the pocket on the back of the passenger seat.  A few minutes later, I hear the same thing.  He had worked the umbrella out of the pocket and was doing the same thing.  I took it away again and this time stuck it under the seat.  He didn't go after it again.

We finished our errands and went for a walk  near the river and canal.  A treat for both of us. And one of my first solo outings with him.  He was a good boy and listened well.

A while later, I decided that I should go out and get some dinner.  I took him with me.  And left him in the car.  He's a good boy!

On the way home, I could hear him chewing, again.  This time he had gotten the snow scraper out of the pocket on the back of the seat and was chewing on it.  Silly dog!

By the time we got home and he had his dinner he was ready lay around for the evening.  Thank goodness.  I was a bit worn out myself.

Mother's Day Finish

I had a great Mother's Day.  I only saw one of my children but heard from the other two.  My heart is full.

I spent some time in the stitching room.  I finished stitching Strawberry House by The Scarlett House.

I thought I would just read through the finishing directions and set it aside.  Then I decided to just do a step of two.  Before you know it I had this:

I am so pleased with the way this turned out.  The directions were easy to read and follow.

I took the lizard litter outside to fill the pieces.  My husband asked me what was in the box.  And I told him.  He asked "Do we have a lizard now?"  Made me chuckle.

Mail Call

Look what came in the mail last week!

I have been collecting these with intention of stitching all of them.  I am undecided as to how or if I want to perosnalize them.  I really like the idea of having all 12 displayed on one wall.

Ocean City, MD

On the weekend of April 11 I had the wonderful opportunity to attend classes given by Sherri Jones at Salty Yarns and The Lankford Hotel.  I like going to the Lankford.  Each room is a little different.

I stayed in The Willet this time.  I think this is only second time I have stayed upstairs in the hotel.

To the left of the entry door.

Head on view from the door.

Tucked in a corner near the bed.

The corner on the other side of the bed.

The sleeping area viewed from the kitchen.
I enjoyed this room so much.

While there I decided that  I need a dresser like this one for my stitching room.

All weekend, each time I looked at the dresser I thought one drawer for fabrics, one drawer for charts and kits, and one drawer for fibers.  Perfect.  And contained. And so, the hunt begins.

When  I arrived I did have the pre-stitching done for the first day's class. A Fine and Fancy Tulip Tray.

I'll be back soon.
