One More Time

I wrote a different post for today and blogger seems to have eaten it.   I'm trying again.

I have been absent.  I've been working on getting in 10,000 steps every day and eating better by trying to follow a keto diet.  Some days I'm more successful than others.  I have found that getting in 10,000 steps takes me about an hour a day.  Doesn't sound like much but works out to about 20% of my available time in the evening.  And, on the days I sit and do nothing but procrastinate about getting started well, that leaves even less time for stitching.

I am hoping that I can use my blog for a bit of accountability.  I want to get back to stitching (cross stitch or some other form of needlework) daily.  I had it for a while but lost it.  And so I'll try again.

I have been exploring other types of needlework lately.  Today I worked on this for a bit.

This is part of a wallhanging called Bertie's Winter by All Through the Night.

Here are a couple of current pictures of the cats.

I think of this one as Tilly tending the pansies.  Now, if only she would eat the entire flower and not just a petal or two.

And the girls enjoying the weather.

Cold, snowy, and blowy here today.  I am happy to be home from work and snug in my home.  Thankfully, I do  not have to go out until I leave for work in the morning.  I home that you are warm and safe where you are.

A few pictures to show from last night's progress.  No stitching at lunchtime as  I had to make a run to the airport instead.

Looks like no pictures today since Blogger cannot copy pictures from my phone.  Worked yesterday but not today.  It may be time to step away from Blogger and Google and find new platform.  Any suggestions?

So, anyway, I did finish another Santa - really and I like the way it looks in the window frame.

And I had some continued work on Sampler House V. 

I need to exercise, eat some dinner, finish a project or at least spend some time on it, and get to the Happy Chair.

Ok, trying something different tonight.  Pictures from my phone and composing the post online on my tablet.  So far, so good.

A little progress on Sampler House V last night,  I plan to get back to that tonight.

At lunchtime yesterday I put a few stitches in Animal Cracker Series - Clementine.  She reminds me of my Tilly.

And I finished the 1994 Santa by The Prairie Schooler last night.

And now there are two Santas in the windows.

I think I have one more stitched and will try to finish that one after I have some dinner.

I put away the Christmas decorations yesterday and cleaned.

As a reward I started Sampler House V by Plum Street Samplers.

I also did a little finishing last night.  Here is my 1992 Santa by The Prairie Schooler.  I found the window at Hobby Lobby.

This finish was inspired by Priscilla #priscillafy.  I will put one Santa in each of the other windows panes.  I still have two others that are UFO's, one WIP, and a couple that could be started in short order.

And a picture of my amaryllis this year before it fades any more.

I'm off to exercise, do a little home tending, and finish a little bit before I sit down to stitch.

So to do this post I have  used my tablet, phone, and laptop.  I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be this hard.  Here's to learning new skills.

Happy New Year!

Hello, again.  I know, I know, it's been a long, long time.  I will try to do better.

Since I last wrote I have been doing stitchy related stuff.  Probably the biggest thing I did was get all of my charts, kit, partial kits, WIPs and UFOs into one spreadsheet.  It it's stitching related at my house, I have probably touched and recorded it in the last few months.  Yep, months!  This was a massive project for me and at times felt a lot like my job but I needed to do that accounting to see just how much I have and what state it's in.  

Because I have such a huge huge case of shiny object syndrome  I look through one box, bin, or bag and decide to work on whatever my hand lands on.  And forget about the bigger picture.  So, I am hoping to stay more focused in the coming year and get some stuff done already!

After doing all that recording I came up with the following numbers:  

                         WIPs 170 (things I've started)
                         UFOs 186 (these are stitched but not fully finished.)

On the upside I did finish or have finished seven - pretty pitiful, I know - projects last year.

Ok,  I think this is going to work.  I went to my laptop to try to fix something and it looked like I had wiped out this entire post.

I'm not so sure I would have started over again.

Aaargh!!! I had written a bunch of stuff and It's gone.

To recap.  I plan to work in getting my WIPs to a more manageable number.  And to dedicate some time every day to my UFOs.

I will continue to watch Flosstube.  Some of my favorites are Priscilla and Chelsea,  The Primitive Stitcher, Cathy Haberman, and Paulette from Plum Street.  I do have to be careful -  there is a lot of enabling that can happen when watching Flosstube.  A lot more than in my normal stitching groups.

I have joined two groups on Facebook Stitch From Stash 2017-2018 to keep me on track.  I also joined 100 Days of Cross Stitch.  The challenge there is to stitch every day for the next 100 days.  I think I can do that one.

That's all for today.  The Christmas stuff needs to be put away, my home cleaned, and some stitching is calling.  Maybe a new start for the new year?  Yep, another WIP to add to the list!

Sunday Update

I didn't achieve my goal of 24 hours of stitching out of 48.  That's ok, I can try it another weekend.

I did make quite a bit of progress on Feathered Nest Pin Book by Stacy Nash Primitives.  When I started working on it last night this is how much I had done.  This was one of my starts from vacation.

I took a long nap this afternoon so that slowed my progress a bit.  This is where I ended up tonight.

And more technical difficulties.   I suspect that blogger may be changing the orientation of the photos during the upload.

I will stitch a bit more tonight while waiting for the dryer and then it's off to bed so I can get up for work tomorrow.

Saturday

I have been working on my stitching marathon weekend.

When I began this morning Theodore was in this state.

And here he is 6 hours and 10 minutes later.

All stitched and ready for finishing.  I haven't decided what to work on next.  I am due for another spin around the neighborhood - so something to think about while I'm doing that.  I think it's stopped raining.  We have had some thunderstorms today typical of June and hot, humid days.

I received some happy mail this week.

Lesson 1 of the Summer Schoolhouse by Brenda Gervais

and the next installment in the Ladies Prim Society called Spring Fling Stitching Bag by The Scarlett House.

Perhaps I'll decide to start one of those after my walk.
