I didn't do a lot today. But I did manage to finish the stitching on Traveleing Stitcher and the companion needlebook.  Still no luck in locating the Impie, Hattie, and Bea piece that I swear is lurking in my stitching room.  It wasn't in the closet as I had thought.  I'll keep looking as I work on and through other stuff in there.

Thursday Update

Yikes!  I can't believe it's been a whole week since my last post.  And, since I'm home most of the time, one would think I could keep on top of this posting business.

So, first of all, here is today's calendar view

I think I finished up December on Sunday morning.  The color used in this is red  although on my monitor it appear to kind of a rusty red.  Honestly, I don't know how to fix that!

If all goes as planned,  I will be finishing those this weekend and will have lots of pictures to share of them in their new home.  If all goes as planned.

So, with that series complete I had a decision to make.  What to stitch next.  I decided to dig into the tote of WIP's and pick out any old thing without putting too much thought into it. I came up with this.

It was not in this state when I saved it from the tote of WIP's. I have been steadily plodding along on it this week.  And this is how it looks today.  At one point this week I went and looked for the lovely piece made by Impie, Hattie, and Bea to finish this.  It's not where I looked.  I did think of another place to look and will try that over the weekend.  I seem to remember without looking in the closet in the stitching room that the bin where said item may be residing is a bit difficult (meaning I have to move other stuff) to retrieve.

It's rainy and cool here today.  A good day for the blanket, some stitching, and binge watching something on Netflix,  It is a work day so that won't happen until this evening.

The Final Finishes from the Weekend

Here are the rest of my finishes from last weekend:

Little Sheep Virtue #7 Patience by Little House Needleworks.  I stitched this over one.  This is my interpretation of their finish.

Love Is by Summer House Stitchworkes using the finishing fabric and key provided in the kit.

And finally Bountiful Blessings by Threadwork Primitives.  The finishing fabric, wool, jute, and acorn were provided in the kit I purchased.  I love the detail of the wool leaf on the back of the pillow.

First Finish of 2014

Finally, a finish.

I have been wanting to put together Needlework by Little House Needleworks from quite some time.  And I wanted to put it on my Longaberger Boardwalk basket.  Now for the stumbling block - every idea I came up with involved a lot of sewing with an new lining for the basket, and even then I wasn't sure if it would work.  I just couldn't see it, you know?

Then I came up with the following idea.  Why not make a shawl for the basket instead of a new lining.  And I was off and running.  I used some wool that I had in my stash - just enough, thank you very much.  And some fusible web, a little glue and some trim.  And voila, my finished basket.

The shawl required two little side seams.  I cut slits in the wool to accomodate the handles.  The overlap on the inside of the basket helps hold it in place, first because it's tight, and second, the plastic basket liner holds it against the basket on the inside.

Easy Peasy!

Here is a little progress update on the piece I keep in my bag to stitch at lunchtime, waiting at the doctor's office, and other odd times that I'm away from home.  This is the seventh piece in the series.  I do have other 6 stitched.  I'll have to show those another day.

Home From Ocean City - Again

I spent the first weekend in May at Beach Retreat in Ocean City, Maryland sponsored by Salty Yarns. 

First, let me say, Sara, Sally, and Mary are the most wonderful hostesses.  I always feel so welcome and special when I am there.

When I arrived I was given the agenda for the weekend (not too taxing) and this goodie bag.

Notice the gift card.  I brought that home with me to use the next time.

I shared Sea Robin 1 with my friends Stasi and Debbie.  I like this litte apartment.  I think it's where I stayed on my very first visit to Ocean City.

On Friday night I left one of these scissor fobs on my roommate's pillows. 

I found this on my pillow when I went into bed from Stasi.  She thought that the button would make a great thread winder.  I have to agree.

On Sunday, I was given these goodies by Debbie.

Of course, it's not all about the stuff. I spent lots of time at the table in the dining room working on Little Sheep Virtues No. 3 Peace and Needleworker both by Little House Needleworks.  I  actually finished the stitching on Little Sheep Virtues No. 3. 

And there was a bit of stash enhancement too.  I don't have pictures of that.  You'll see some of those projects in upcoming posts.

February Cottage of the Month

I did finish stitching February Cottage of the Month by Little House Needleworks.  I've put this one away as is to put together next year or at some point in
the future.

I ordered these guys when I first saw them.  The first one arrived last week, with fabric, wrapped like a little package.  Thank you ladies at The Strawberry Sampler.

I was so happy to get this package. 

After I put away the January project I made a start on this, and well, I stitched the whole thing.  I don't exactlly know how this fits in with the whole rotation thing I'm trying, but I really hope to keep on top of this series.

I stitched him over one, on the suggested fabric with the DMC colors.  And I think he's pretty darn cute!  He has joined Winter Fling as one of the unfinished things.  I see this guy as a little pillow, maybe with some red fabric or rickrack.  Probably fabric, I think that rickrack would be too much with the border.

A New Start for February

Sunday Summary

I finished stitching Sampler Months - January on Saturday night.  I wasn't able to sleep due to a three hour nap in the afternoon.   Here it is with the stitching finished. 

Sunday afternoon I finished it into this little pillow.  I had thought I would use the green snowman fabric when I first started the stitching.  I am happy with the way this turned out. 

 Except that when I put in the intended basket it looked a little lonely.  See what I mean?

So I headed to the attic and found this other bigger pillow that I had finished years ago.  Still not the look I want but it's a bit better.

Then I decided to look through the box of shame and I found the following pieces which I can finish sometime soon to add to the basket.

Then I needed a new lunchtime/travel project.  So I started Winter Fling by Heart in Hand.  This one will be a quick stitch.  I had to make myself stop stitching on this.  I hope to make some more progress on this at lunchtime this week.

Samplermakers Saturday

Yesterday was Samplermakers.  A group of ladies who orginally got together to finish a project from a class they had taken and have been meeting ever since.  I found out about the group several years ago and love going.  They meet once a month, usually the second Saturday for about 4 hours.   A very informal group.  There are all kinds of things  being worked on.  Some ladies knit. Some stitch.  And some do both. 

I took along Sampler Months this time, my travel project.  It's amazing how much progress a girl can make on a small with project with a few uninterupted hours of stitching time! 

This month one of the ladies proposed that those who are interested and have Betsy Morgan's Toy Chest in progress complete the stitching on the scissor case before the May meeting at which time we will assemble them.  Sounds good.  Hope I remember to get that baby out between now and then and get that piece worked.

Sampler Months

Earlier this month I started Sampler Months - January by Little House Needleworks.  I am stitching this using the recommended floss over one on 28 count.   So far I've made a bit of progress.  I plan to have this be my lunchtime project and travel project.
